Inlineskates: Snelheid en conditie op het fietspad
Inlineskates (of skeelers) zijn ideaal voor zowel ontspannen toertochten als intensieve workouts op het asfalt.
- Moeiteloos versnellen: Omdat de wielen in één lijn staan, behoud je makkelijker je vaart.
- Fit & Maatvoering: Koop skates liever niet standaard groter. Meet altijd je voeten in millimeters (Mondopoint) en check de maattabel van het merk voor de juiste, strakke pasvorm.
- Kies je stijl: Ga voor softboots (langdurig comfort) of hardboots (maximale controle en wendbaarheid).
- Wielkeuze: Voor skaten op asfalt adviseren we wielen met een hardheid van 84A tot 86A. Dit biedt een ideale balans tussen grip, comfort en snelheid.
Rolschaatsen: Klassieke stabiliteit is helemaal terug
Rolschaatsen – ook wel quad skates genoemd – maken een daverende comeback. Met twee wielen voor, twee achter en een neusrem bieden ze een totaal andere skate-ervaring. Ze geven extra balans en moedigen een creatieve, soepele stijl aan: ideaal voor skate-dansen of ontspannen ritjes in het park.

Frequently asked questions about skating
With inline skates (or skeelers), the wheels are mounted in a straight line behind each other. This design offers less resistance, which is perfect for building speed or doing endurance training over longer distances. Roller skates (quads) have four wheels whose layout resembles a car: two in front, two in back and a large brake on the front. This wide platform provides excellent lateral balance, which makes them great for tricks, dance moves or short quiet rides.
It is a myth that you should always buy skates 1 to 2 sizes larger. Skates must fit snugly all around to prevent blisters or lack of support. Measure your feet in millimeters (with your heel against the wall) and look up this so-called Mondopoint size in the specific size chart of the brand you're considering.
Wheels are measured with the Durometer A-scale. Soft wheels, generally 78A to 82A, absorb vibrations excellently and provide plenty of grip on rough asphalt. For most outdoor skaters, especially on ordinary bike paths, a middle ground of 84A to 86A is the 'sweet spot', because this offers the best balance between a smooth ride, speed and durability.
The ABEC rating (such as 3, 5, 7 or 9) describes exclusively the accuracy and precision of the bearing production. The ABEC standardization tells you in theory with what tolerances the bearings were produced. In the practice of skating, however, the ABEC value has almost no influence on your speed, friction or shock resistance. Other factors, such as the bearing material and good lubrication, are more determinative for the actual performance on the street.
